Les impulsions infrarouges sont synchronis\u00e9es pour augmenter l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie des \u00e9lectrons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">Les d\u00e9tails du prototype d&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur sur une puce ont \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9s dans le dernier num\u00e9ro de Science. La cl\u00e9 repose dans les techniques de conception et de fabrication qui peuvent \u00eatre r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9es pour fournir des faisceaux de particules suffisamment acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9s pour effectuer des exp\u00e9riences de pointe en chimie, science des mat\u00e9riaux et recherche biologique qui ne n\u00e9cessitent pas la puissance d&rsquo;un acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur massif, explique le professeur Jelena Vuckovic de Stanford .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">\u00ab\u00a0Les plus grands acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs sont comme les t\u00e9lescopes tr\u00e8s puissants. Il n&rsquo;y en a que quelques-uns dans le monde et les scientifiques doivent venir dans des endroits comme le SLAC pour les utiliser\u00a0\u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00abNous voulons miniaturiser la technologie des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 en faire un outil de recherche plus accessible.\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">\u00abDans cet article, nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 montrer comment il pourrait \u00eatre possible de cibler un rayonnement \u00e9lectronique directement sur une tumeur en laissant les tissus sains intacts\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Robert Byer, qui dirige le programme international d&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur sur une puce, <\/span>(Accelerator on a Chip International Program<span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\"> ou ACHIP), un d\u00e9veloppement plus \u00e9tendu et dont cette recherche actuelle fait partie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">Dans un acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur traditionnel, comme celui du SLAC, les ing\u00e9nieurs r\u00e9digent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement une conception de base, puis ex\u00e9cutent des simulations pour organiser physiquement les salves de micro-ondes afin de fournir la plus grande acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration possible. Pour l&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur sur une puce, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de Vuckovic a r\u00e9solu le probl\u00e8me en utilisant des algorithmes de conception inverse que son laboratoire a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s. Ces algorithmes ont permis aux chercheurs de travailler \u00e0 reculons, en sp\u00e9cifiant la quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie lumineuse qu&rsquo;ils voulaient que la puce fournisse, et en chargeant le logiciel de sugg\u00e9rer comment construire les bonnes structures nanom\u00e9triques n\u00e9cessaires pour mettre les photons en contact appropri\u00e9 avec le flux d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">\u00ab\u00a0Parfois, les conceptions en sens inverse peuvent produire des solutions auxquelles un ing\u00e9nieur humain n&rsquo;aurait peut-\u00eatre pas pens\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 R. Joel England, scientifique au SLAC et co-auteur de l&rsquo;article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">L&rsquo;algorithme de conception a propos\u00e9 une disposition sur la puce de mesas nanom\u00e9triques, s\u00e9par\u00e9es par un canal, grav\u00e9es dans le silicium. Des fils de silicium, passant \u00e0 travers la paroi du canal \u00e0 des endroits strat\u00e9giques, dirigent les impulsions laser sur un groupe d&rsquo;\u00e9lectronique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"fr\">Les chercheurs veulent acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer les \u00e9lectrons \u00e0 94% de la vitesse de la lumi\u00e8re, soit 1 million d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrons volts (1MeV), pour cr\u00e9er un flux de particules suffisamment puissant pour la recherche ou \u00e0 des fins m\u00e9dicales. La puce prototype fournit un seul \u00e9tage d&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration, et le flux d&rsquo;\u00e9lectrons devrait passer par environ 1 000 de ces \u00e9tages pour atteindre 1 MeV.
