En appliquant diff\u00e9rentes tensions au photod\u00e9tecteur, les utilisateurs peuvent manipuler les longueurs d&rsquo;onde de la lumi\u00e8re auxquelles le photod\u00e9tecteur est le plus sensible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Si vous appliquez rapidement une gamme de tensions au photod\u00e9tecteur et mesurez toutes les longueurs d&rsquo;onde de la lumi\u00e8re captur\u00e9e \u00e0 chaque tension, vous disposez de suffisamment de donn\u00e9es pour qu&rsquo;un simple programme informatique puisse recr\u00e9er une signature pr\u00e9cise de la lumi\u00e8re qui traverse le mat\u00e9riau cible ou qui s&rsquo;y r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit\u00a0\u00bb, explique M. O&rsquo;Connor. \u00ab\u00a0La gamme de tensions est inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 un volt, et l&rsquo;ensemble du processus peut se d\u00e9rouler en moins d&rsquo;une milliseconde.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Les tentatives pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes de cr\u00e9ation de photod\u00e9tecteurs miniaturis\u00e9s reposaient sur des optiques complexes, utilisaient des tensions \u00e9lev\u00e9es ou n&rsquo;\u00e9taient pas aussi sensibles \u00e0 une large gamme de longueurs d&rsquo;onde.<\/p>\n<p>Lors des essais de validation du concept, les chercheurs ont constat\u00e9 que leur spectrom\u00e8tre de la taille d&rsquo;un pixel \u00e9tait aussi pr\u00e9cis qu&rsquo;un spectrom\u00e8tre conventionnel et avait une sensibilit\u00e9 comparable \u00e0 celle des dispositifs de photod\u00e9tection commerciaux.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0\u00c0 long terme, notre objectif est de mettre les spectrom\u00e8tres \u00e0 la port\u00e9e du grand public\u00a0\u00bb, explique M. O&rsquo;Connor. \u00ab\u00a0La taille et la demande d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie de la technologie permettent de l&rsquo;int\u00e9grer dans un smartphone, et nous pensons que cela ouvre la voie \u00e0 des applications passionnantes.
