Van den hove, dans une d\u00e9claration dont <em>Reuters<\/em> a eu connaissance avant sa publication.<\/p>\n<p>Le forum technologique annuel de l&rsquo;IMEC s&rsquo;ouvre \u00e0 Anvers, en Belgique, mardi et se poursuit mercredi.<\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9veloppement de circuits int\u00e9gr\u00e9s d\u00e9di\u00e9s peut prendre un an ou deux et leur fabrication dans une usine de fabrication de plaquettes peut durer six mois.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Il existe un risque inh\u00e9rent \u00e9norme d&rsquo;actifs bloqu\u00e9s, car lorsque le mat\u00e9riel d&rsquo;IA sera enfin pr\u00eat, la communaut\u00e9 des logiciels d&rsquo;IA, qui \u00e9volue rapidement, aura peut-\u00eatre pris une autre direction\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Van den Hove, selon Reuters.<\/p>\n<h2>Des puces 3D reconfigurables<\/h2>\n<p>Selon la description faite par <em>Reuters<\/em>, ce que Van den Hove propose est un r\u00e9seau tridimensionnel programmable d&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e9ments de traitement informatique de l&rsquo;IA.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia est devenue la plus grande soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de semi-conducteurs en proposant des GPU multiprocesseurs pour l&rsquo;IA qui sont suffisamment g\u00e9n\u00e9raux pour traiter les multiples types d&rsquo;algorithmes d&rsquo;IA au fur et \u00e0 mesure de leur d\u00e9veloppement. Elle a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 prot\u00e9g\u00e9e de la concurrence par sa plateforme de calcul parall\u00e8le CUDA et son mod\u00e8le de programmation.<\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{\">Cependant, m\u00eame s&rsquo;ils y parviennent, les GPU de Nvidia ne constituent pas la solution la plus efficace en termes de consommation d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie pour des algorithmes sp\u00e9cifiques. C&rsquo;est pourquoi les hyperscalers et autres ont cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs ASIC pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des ensembles particuliers de charges de travail dans le centre de donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Si les grandes entreprises peuvent se le permettre, c&rsquo;est risqu\u00e9 et peu rentable pour la plupart d&rsquo;entre elles, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M. Van den hove.<\/p>\n<p>La ligne de front de l&rsquo;IA passant des LLM \u00e0 l&rsquo;IA agentique multimode, le rythme des changements algorithmiques pourrait m\u00eame s&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer. Le directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l&rsquo;IMEC devrait proposer que les futures puces d&rsquo;IA regroupent plusieurs styles de calcul de l&rsquo;IA sous forme de blocs de traitement &#8211; ce que l&rsquo;on appelle une supercellule. Un r\u00e9seau programmable sur puce sera alors en mesure de relier et de programmer les ressources pour r\u00e9pondre aux exigences des algorithmes de mani\u00e8re dynamique.<\/p>\n<p>Cette approche fera appel \u00e0 l&#8217;empilage tridimensionnel et \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres m\u00e9thodes de packaging avanc\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Ce que <em>Reuters<\/em> d\u00e9crit rappelle les r\u00e9seaux de portes programmables, mais \u00e0 un niveau d&rsquo;abstraction plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que la table de consultation (LUT) au niveau de la porte d&rsquo;origine. La supercellule, l&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e9ment constitutif du r\u00e9seau, sera probablement compos\u00e9e d&rsquo;une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de traitements informatiques en m\u00e9moire prenant en charge l&rsquo;ensemble des besoins en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;intelligence artificielle.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que cette approche semble logique, il convient de noter que si les algorithmes d&rsquo;IA se d\u00e9tournent syst\u00e9matiquement de certains styles de calcul pris en charge par la supercellule du composant, le \u00ab\u00a0FPGA de l&rsquo;IA\u00a0\u00bb contiendrait alors du silicium redondant et deviendrait une solution co\u00fbteuse, mais potentiellement encore efficace sur le plan \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et performante. L&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre entre performance, puissance et surface (PPA) reste un d\u00e9fi pour les concepteurs de puces et les FPGA ont traditionnellement \u00e9t\u00e9 choisis pour leurs avantages en termes de d\u00e9lai de mise sur le march\u00e9, mais \u00e0 des co\u00fbts unitaires plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Depuis des d\u00e9cennies, l&rsquo;IMEC est le premier centre mondial de recherche sur les semi-conducteurs et collabore avec les principales soci\u00e9t\u00e9s de semi-conducteurs dans le cadre de projets pr\u00e9-concurrentiels. Cela a permis \u00e0 l&rsquo;IMEC de proposer et d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer un grand nombre de technologies aujourd&rsquo;hui adopt\u00e9es \u00e0 la pointe du progr\u00e8s.
