Cependant, la production industrielle actuelle d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne (gris) d\u00e9pend fortement des combustibles fossiles, g\u00e9n\u00e9rant environ 11,5 \u00e0 13,6 kilogrammes d&rsquo;\u00e9missions de<sub>CO2<\/sub> par kilogramme d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne produit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/abs\/10.1073\/pnas.2404958121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dans cette nouvelle \u00e9tude<\/a>, les chercheurs ont utilis\u00e9 une approche de biologie synth\u00e9tique pour transformer une esp\u00e8ce de bact\u00e9rie en un \u00ab\u00a0bio-nano-r\u00e9acteur\u00a0\u00bb cellulaire capable de diviser l&rsquo;eau et de produire de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de la lumi\u00e8re du soleil. En g\u00e9n\u00e9rant un catalyseur tr\u00e8s efficace, stable et rentable, ils ont surmont\u00e9 l&rsquo;un des d\u00e9fis majeurs qui ont frein\u00e9 la production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne vert jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent.<\/p>\n<p>Le premier auteur de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude, Weiming Tu, candidat au doctorat au d\u00e9partement des sciences de l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieur d&rsquo;Oxford, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab\u00a0Le p\u00e9ri-plasme naturel de S. oneidensis offre un nano-environnement optimal pour la production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, car il \u00ab\u00a0comprime\u00a0\u00bb efficacement les protons et les \u00e9lectrons, augmentant ainsi la probabilit\u00e9 de leurs interactions \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur d&rsquo;espaces \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle nanom\u00e9trique. D&rsquo;un point de vue thermodynamique, cette conception permet de r\u00e9duire l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne.
