Les oscillateurs m\u00e9caniques macroscopiques, indispensables dans les montres \u00e0 quartz, les t\u00e9l\u00e9phones portables et les lasers utilis\u00e9s dans les t\u00e9l\u00e9communications, constituent une technologie \u00e9mergente. Dans le domaine quantique, les oscillateurs macroscopiques pourraient permettre de cr\u00e9er des capteurs ultrasensibles et des composants pour l\u2019informatique quantique, ouvrant ainsi de nouvelles possibilit\u00e9s d\u2019innovation dans diverses industries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contr\u00f4ler des oscillateurs m\u00e9caniques<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le contr\u00f4le d\u2019oscillateurs m\u00e9caniques au niveau quantique est essentiel pour le d\u00e9veloppement des technologies de demain en informatique quantique et en d\u00e9tection de haute pr\u00e9cision. N\u00e9anmoins, il reste difficile de les contr\u00f4ler collectivement car cela n\u00e9cessite des unit\u00e9s presque parfaites, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire identiques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dynamiques collectives d&rsquo;oscillateurs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La plupart des recherches en optom\u00e9canique quantique se sont concentr\u00e9es sur des oscillateurs simples, mettant en \u00e9vidence des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes quantiques tels que le refroidissement de l\u2019\u00e9tat fondamental et la compression quantique. Il reste toutefois \u00e0 observer ces ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes quantiques sur des ensembles d\u2019oscillateurs se comportant collectivement. Bien que ces dynamiques collectives soient essentielles pour cr\u00e9er des syst\u00e8mes quantiques plus performants, elles exigent un contr\u00f4le extr\u00eamement pr\u00e9cis de plusieurs oscillateurs aux propri\u00e9t\u00e9s quasi identiques.<\/p>\n<p>Des scientifiques de l\u2019EPFL sous la direction de Tobias Kippenberg ont d\u00e9sormais atteint un objectif de longue date : ils ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 pr\u00e9parer six oscillateurs m\u00e9caniques dans un \u00e9tat collectif avant de confirmer leur comportement quantique et de mesurer des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes qui n\u2019apparaissent que lorsque les oscillateurs agissent en tant que groupe.
