Leur nouvelle m\u00e9thode tr\u00e8s durable est bas\u00e9e sur une \u00e9ponge de fibrilles de prot\u00e9ines, que les scientifiques obtiennent \u00e0 partir du lactos\u00e9rum, un sous-produit de l&rsquo;industrie alimentaire &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Transformer des mat\u00e9riaux de base en or \u00e9tait l&rsquo;un des objectifs insaisissables des alchimistes d&rsquo;autrefois. Le professeur Raffaele Mezzenga, du d\u00e9partement des sciences et technologies de la sant\u00e9 de l&rsquo;ETH Zurich, vient de r\u00e9aliser un projet dans ce sens. Il n&rsquo;a bien s\u00fbr pas transform\u00e9 un autre \u00e9l\u00e9ment chimique en or, comme les alchimistes cherchaient \u00e0 le faire. Mais il a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer de l&rsquo;or \u00e0 partir de d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques en utilisant un sous-produit du processus de fabrication du fromage.<\/p>\n<h2>Une m\u00e9thode efficace et durable<\/h2>\n<p>Les d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques contiennent toute une s\u00e9rie de m\u00e9taux pr\u00e9cieux, notamment du cuivre, du cobalt et m\u00eame des quantit\u00e9s significatives d&rsquo;or. La r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de l&rsquo;or contenu dans les smartphones et les ordinateurs hors d&rsquo;usage est une proposition int\u00e9ressante compte tenu de la demande croissante de ce m\u00e9tal pr\u00e9cieux. Cependant, les m\u00e9thodes de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration con\u00e7ues \u00e0 ce jour sont gourmandes en \u00e9nergie et n\u00e9cessitent souvent l&rsquo;utilisation de produits chimiques hautement toxiques. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, un groupe dirig\u00e9 par le professeur Mezzenga de l&rsquo;ETH a mis au point une m\u00e9thode tr\u00e8s efficace, rentable et surtout beaucoup plus durable : gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une \u00e9ponge fabriqu\u00e9e \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;une matrice prot\u00e9ique, les chercheurs ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 extraire l&rsquo;or des d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer l&rsquo;or dans l&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience de laboratoire, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe a r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 les cartes m\u00e8res \u00e9lectroniques de 20 vieux ordinateurs et en a extrait les parties m\u00e9talliques. Bien que les d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques soient le produit de d\u00e9part le plus prometteur pour l&rsquo;extraction de l&rsquo;or, il existe d&rsquo;autres sources possibles. Il s&rsquo;agit notamment des d\u00e9chets industriels issus de la fabrication de puces \u00e9lectroniques ou des processus de plaquage d&rsquo;or. En outre, les scientifiques pr\u00e9voient d&rsquo;\u00e9tudier la possibilit\u00e9 de fabriquer des \u00e9ponges de fibrilles prot\u00e9iques \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;autres sous-produits riches en prot\u00e9ines ou de d\u00e9chets de l&rsquo;industrie alimentaire.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Ce qui me pla\u00eet le plus, c&rsquo;est que nous utilisons un sous-produit de l&rsquo;industrie alimentaire pour obtenir de l&rsquo;or \u00e0 partir de d\u00e9chets \u00e9lectroniques\u00a0\u00bb, explique M.
