Cette approche est similaire \u00e0 celle d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Californie Santa Cruz qui \u00e9limine \u00e9galement les op\u00e9rations de multiplication de matrice pour am\u00e9liorer l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique \u00e0 13W pour un mod\u00e8le LLM \u00e0 un milliard de param\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenewseurope.com\/en\/low-power-implementation-for-generative-ai\/\">Impl\u00e9mentation \u00e0 faible puissance pour l&rsquo;IA g\u00e9n\u00e9rative .<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenewseurope.com\/en\/ai-processor-startup-quadric-turns-to-ip-licensing-with-megachips\/\">La start-up Quadric, sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les processeurs d&rsquo;IA, se tourne vers les licences de propri\u00e9t\u00e9 intellectuelle<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenewseurope.com\/en\/quadric-joins-silicon-catalyst-to-offer-ai-ip\/\">Quadric rejoint Silicon Catalyst pour offrir de la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 intellectuelle en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;IA<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>La KAN a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans un document de recherche publi\u00e9 par des chercheurs du MIT et de CalTech, qui propose une approche fondamentalement nouvelle des r\u00e9seaux d&rsquo;apprentissage automatique.<\/p>\n<p>Les premi\u00e8res analyses sugg\u00e8rent que les KAN peuvent \u00eatre 10 x ou m\u00eame 20 x plus petits que les grands mod\u00e8les de langage (LLM) conventionnels bas\u00e9s sur des transformateurs, tout en donnant des r\u00e9sultats \u00e9quivalents. L&rsquo;ex\u00e9cution d&rsquo;une inf\u00e9rence KAN consiste \u00e0 calculer un grand nombre de fonctions univari\u00e9es telles que des polyn\u00f4mes, puis \u00e0 AJOUTER les r\u00e9sultats avec tr\u00e8s peu de MATMUL.<\/p>\n<p>La plupart des processeurs neuronaux NPU disposent de machines d&rsquo;\u00e9tat c\u00e2bl\u00e9es pour l&rsquo;ex\u00e9cution de la multiplication matricielle, ainsi que de machines d&rsquo;\u00e9tat pour la mise en \u0153uvre des fonctions courantes d&rsquo;activation (telles que ReLu et GeLu) et de mise en commun.<\/p>\n<p>Cette mesure s&rsquo;adresse \u00e0 la fois aux exploitants de centres de donn\u00e9es, afin de r\u00e9duire la consommation d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie, et aux services d&rsquo;inf\u00e9rence, afin de r\u00e9duire les besoins en m\u00e9moire de l&rsquo;intelligence artificielle. Les fabricants de composants qui cherchent \u00e0 faire fonctionner la GenAI dans les appareils sont \u00e9galement confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des exigences en mati\u00e8re de calcul et de stockage. L&rsquo;utilisation de la KAN a permis d&rsquo;obtenir un mod\u00e8le de param\u00e8tre 1B qui s&rsquo;int\u00e8gre parfaitement \u00e0 la plate-forme existante avec seulement 4 Go de DDR, soit une petite fraction des 32 Go requis pour les mod\u00e8les actuels.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenewseurope.com\/en\/ai-to-drive-160-increase-in-data-centre-power-european-grid-issues\/\">L&rsquo;IA va entra\u00eener une augmentation de 160 % de la puissance des centres de donn\u00e9es<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenewseurope.com\/en\/ai-drives-up-data-centre-power-requirements\/\">L&rsquo;IA fait grimper les besoins en \u00e9nergie des centres de donn\u00e9es<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Quadrics affirme que son NPU \u00e0 usage g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Chimera est capable de prendre en charge les KAN ainsi que le mat\u00e9riel de multiplication matricielle n\u00e9cessaire pour faire fonctionner efficacement les r\u00e9seaux neuronaux conventionnels avec un r\u00e9seau massivement parall\u00e8le d&rsquo;ALU programmables C++ \u00e0 usage g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, capables d&rsquo;ex\u00e9cuter tous les mod\u00e8les d&rsquo;apprentissage automatique.<\/p>\n<p>Le processeur Chimera QB16 de Quadric, par exemple, associe 8192 MAC \u00e0 un nombre impressionnant de 1024 ALU \u00e0 32 bits en virgule fixe, ce qui donne 32 768 bits de parall\u00e9lisme pour faire fonctionner les r\u00e9seaux KAN.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, Quadrics a annonc\u00e9 la prise en charge des mod\u00e8les d&rsquo;inf\u00e9rence d&rsquo;apprentissage machine (ML) du transformateur de vision (ViT). Les ViT ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crits pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 2021 et entrelacent de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e des op\u00e9rations lourdes pour le MAC (convolutions et couches denses) avec du code centr\u00e9 sur le DSP\/CPU (normalisation, SoftMax). Cela met en \u00e9vidence le moment opportun pour faire passer un cadre de la recherche \u00e0 la mise en \u0153uvre.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9mergence des r\u00e9seaux ViT a rompu avec les hypoth\u00e8ses sous-jacentes des NPU c\u00e2bl\u00e9es, car l&rsquo;adaptation d&rsquo;une charge de travail ViT \u00e0 un SoC h\u00e9t\u00e9rog\u00e8ne impliquerait des d\u00e9placements r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s de donn\u00e9es entre NPU et DSP\/CPU. La puissance du syst\u00e8me gaspill\u00e9e par tous ces transferts de donn\u00e9es annule les gains d&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 du calcul matriciel dus \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence du NPU.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00bb En 2018, lorsque nous avons con\u00e7u l&rsquo;architecture GPNPU Chimera, nous savions que l&rsquo;\u00e9volution rapide de l&rsquo;apprentissage automatique signifiait que nous devions construire une IP de processeur \u00e0 la fois optimis\u00e9e en termes de performances matricielles et \u00e0 usage g\u00e9n\u00e9ral \u00ab\u00a0, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Veerbhan Kheterpal, PDG de Quadric. \u00ab\u00a0Nous savions que quelque chose serait invent\u00e9 pour rel\u00e9guer la famille de r\u00e9seaux ResNet aux oubliettes, mais nous ne savions pas que les transformateurs seraient les grands gagnants du moment.
