C&rsquo;est la plus petite mol\u00e9cule de l&rsquo;univers et elle peut s&rsquo;\u00e9chapper par le moindre trou. En raison de sa tr\u00e8s faible densit\u00e9, il doit \u00eatre stock\u00e9 \u00e0 une pression de 350 ou 700 bars &#8211; selon la norme &#8211; pour une utilisation sous forme gazeuse, ou \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature de -252\u00b0C pour une utilisation sous forme liquide. Il en ressort que les r\u00e9seaux de distribution d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne restent rares et donc co\u00fbteux. Les exploitants de navires et d&rsquo;avions &#8211; v\u00e9hicules pour lesquels les batteries \u00e9lectriques ne sont pas encore viables &#8211; misent sur l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne ou les carburants synth\u00e9tiques fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, bien que la production de ces compos\u00e9s ne soit pas tr\u00e8s efficace sur le plan \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>C&rsquo;est l\u00e0 qu&rsquo;intervient la nouvelle m\u00e9thode de Turani-I-Belloto. Il propose d&rsquo;utiliser l&rsquo;ammoniac pour transporter l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. \u00ab\u00a0Aujourd&rsquo;hui, la moiti\u00e9 de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne produit sert \u00e0 fabriquer de l&rsquo;ammoniac, qui est ensuite utilis\u00e9 comme principal ingr\u00e9dient des engrais\u00a0\u00bb, explique-t-il. L&rsquo;ammoniac est un gaz incolore mais non inodore, ce qui signifie que les fuites peuvent \u00eatre d\u00e9tect\u00e9es assez facilement. Il peut \u00eatre liqu\u00e9fi\u00e9 \u00e0 une pression relativement faible (8,5 bars) et \u00e0 une temp\u00e9rature raisonnable (-33\u00b0C), ce qui en fait un bon candidat pour le transport. L&rsquo;ammoniac liquide a \u00e9galement une densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne liquide. \u00ab\u00a0De plus, les r\u00e9seaux de distribution de l&rsquo;ammoniac sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s dans le monde entier\u00a0\u00bb, pr\u00e9cise M. Turani-I-Belloto. \u00ab\u00a0D&rsquo;o\u00f9 mon id\u00e9e de l&rsquo;utiliser pour transporter de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u00ab\u00a0Ce que je veux faire, c&rsquo;est exploiter les avantages de chaque gaz : l&rsquo;ammoniac pour les transports et l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne pour l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie, en le produisant \u00e0 partir de l&rsquo;ammoniac l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il est n\u00e9cessaire\u00a0\u00bb, explique M. Turani-I-Belloto. \u00ab\u00a0Cela permettra de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie propre, \u00e0 la fois pour les v\u00e9hicules de transport et pour toute une s\u00e9rie d&rsquo;autres industries. La transformation de l&rsquo;ammoniac en hydrog\u00e8ne n\u00e9cessite l&rsquo;utilisation d&rsquo;un catalyseur. \u00ab\u00a0Il existe des agents catalyseurs, mais ils ne sont pas assez efficaces ou ils sont trop chers, comme le ruth\u00e9nium, un m\u00e9tal extr\u00eamement rare.
