Le d\u00e9veloppement de ce protocole a commenc\u00e9 entre 1980 et 1990 chez Bosch, puis il est devenu un standard pour le diagnostic embarqu\u00e9 (OBD). \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que le CAN original a quelques limitations en termes de bande passante et de performance (maximum 1 Mbps), r\u00e9cemment une nouvelle norme a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduite sur le march\u00e9 : le CAN-FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate), qui peut atteindre un d\u00e9bit de donn\u00e9es allant jusqu\u2019\u00e0 12 Mbps. Une autre diff\u00e9rence significative entre CAN et CAN-FD est que les trames CAN peuvent transporter jusqu\u2019\u00e0 8 octets, tandis que les trames CAN-FD ont un champ de donn\u00e9es jusqu\u2019\u00e0 64 octets.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\" class=\"T2ParagrapheTitre2\">L\u2019une des principales particularit\u00e9s du protocole de bus CAN est que deux lignes diff\u00e9rentielles sont utilis\u00e9es pour communiquer. En fait, un \u00e9metteur-r\u00e9cepteur CAN est n\u00e9cessaire pour transformer ces signaux sp\u00e9ciaux en informations utilisables par le programmeur.
