La sonde atomique tomographique est une technique d\u2019analyse tridimensionnelle de haute r\u00e9solution, qui permet d&rsquo;observer la distribution spatiale des atomes dans un mat\u00e9riau.\u00a0On obtient\u00a0une cartographie de la distribution des atomes dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon avec une r\u00e9solution atomique en trois dimensions. La machine permet une reconstruction de 10 \u00e0 100 millions d\u2019atomes en quelques heures.<\/p>\n<p>La reconstruction 3D d\u2019un \u00e9chantillon peut \u00eatre utile pour cr\u00e9er des mat\u00e9riaux architectur\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nanom\u00e9trique r\u00e9pondant \u00e0 des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s sp\u00e9cifiques (m\u00e9caniques, \u00e9lectroniques\u2026) en fonction des applications vis\u00e9es. Elle pourra, en outre, \u00eatre mise \u00e0 profit pour voir comment \u00e9volue un mat\u00e9riau pendant sa fabrication et son utilisation, afin de ma\u00eetriser sa durabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Parmi les utilisations possibles, citons le recyclage des mat\u00e9riaux.\u00a0Quand on recycle, on m\u00e9lange les mat\u00e9riaux et on se retrouve avec des esp\u00e8ces chimiques ind\u00e9sirables qui se logent dans les d\u00e9fauts cristallins \u00bb, indique Alexis Deschamps, chercheur au SIMAP** et enseignant \u00e0 Grenoble INP \u2013 Phelma, UGA. \u00ab La sonde atomique peut aider \u00e0 comprendre la nocivit\u00e9 \u00e9ventuelle de ces d\u00e9fauts. Autre exemple en g\u00e9ologie, o\u00f9 la technique est utilis\u00e9e pour r\u00e9aliser des mesures isotopiques, pour des datations par exemple, ou encore pour \u00e9tudier les d\u00e9formations, les m\u00e9langes, et au final l\u2019histoire de la roche. \u00bb Elle sera install\u00e9e au laboratoire SIMAP (CNRS\/Grenoble INP \u2013 UGA\/UGA)** et g\u00e9r\u00e9e par le CMTC***.<\/p>\n<p>* Les contrats de plan \u00c9tat-R\u00e9gion (CPER) constituent un outil de d\u00e9veloppement entre l\u2019\u00c9tat et les r\u00e9gions, par la mise en oeuvre de projets structurants.
