Par ailleurs, dans cette technologie, les particules de carbone poreux remplacent les \u00e9lectrodes lourdes et permettent ainsi la conception de batteries l\u00e9g\u00e8res. Bien que cela ressemble \u00e0 une combinaison parfaite, les batteries prototypes lithium-air d&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui pr\u00e9sentent un inconv\u00e9nient majeur : elles ont tendance \u00e0 perdre consid\u00e9rablement leurs performances apr\u00e8s seulement quelques cycles de charge, et les \u00e9lectrodes se d\u00e9sint\u00e8grent. Les scientifiques de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 technique de Munich (TUM) et le Centre de recherche de J\u00fclich ont maintenant trouv\u00e9 la raison de ce comportement. Au cours du processus de charge, de l&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne tr\u00e8s r\u00e9actif est g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9. Cet oxyg\u00e8ne corrode les mat\u00e9riaux environnants en une fraction de seconde comme l&rsquo; explique Johannes Wandt, doctorant de TUM.<\/p>\n<p>Pour Johannes Wandt, il y a deux raisons pour lesquelles la communaut\u00e9 scientifique n&rsquo;a pas trouv\u00e9 plus t\u00f4t la raison du cycle court des batteries au lithium air: L&rsquo;un est que le dispositif exp\u00e9rimental est assez complexe. Et l&rsquo;autre concerne une erreur de calcul dans la litt\u00e9rature scientifique qui a emp\u00each\u00e9 de chercher au bon endroit.<\/p>\n<p>Pour examiner le processus de charge avec pr\u00e9cision, les chercheurs de la TUM ont construit une batterie sp\u00e9cifique au lithium-air. Les collecteurs de courant sont tr\u00e8s minces et en forme d&rsquo;h\u00e9lice; une enveloppe en verre permet d&rsquo;observer le processus visuellement. En outre, l&rsquo;enveloppe de verre fait en sorte que le rayonnement RF et les champs magn\u00e9tiques ne sont pas prot\u00e9g\u00e9s hors tension, mais peuvent \u00eatre mesur\u00e9s. Un instrument de mesure sp\u00e9cifique \u00a0\u00bb Electron Resonance Pragmatique Spectroscopy \u00ab\u00a0(EPR) a permis de montrer la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne lorsque la batterie a \u00e9t\u00e9 charg\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Si le probl\u00e8me est maintenant identifi\u00e9, y-a-t-il une solution en vue? Pas encore. Dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tape suivante, les chercheurs envisagent de trouver des moyens pour pr\u00e9venir la production d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne.
