Implant\u00e9e \u00e0 Amiens, cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est issue du R\u00e9seau fran\u00e7ais sur le stockage \u00e9lectrochimique de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie (RS2E) port\u00e9 par le CNRS. Elle dispose aujourd&rsquo;hui de plusieurs dizaines de prototypes fonctionnels, et esp\u00e8re lancer la production \u00e0 plus grande \u00e9chelle d&rsquo;ici 2020.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>En novembre 2015, des chercheurs principalement du CNRS, du CEA et de plusieurs universit\u00e9s fran\u00e7aises regroup\u00e9s au sein du RS2E, ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 concevoir le premier prototype de batterie sodium-ion au format \u00ab 18650 \u00bb, un format tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandu dans l&rsquo;industrie, notamment pour les batteries lithium-ion. S&rsquo;inspirant directement de ces batteries, il est dot\u00e9 de meilleures performances que celles-ci, notamment en termes d&rsquo;esp\u00e9rance de vie, de rapidit\u00e9 de charge et d\u00e9charge. Son principal atout est d&rsquo;utiliser le sodium, un \u00e9l\u00e9ment moins co\u00fbteux et plus abondant que le lithium (on trouve 2,6 % de sodium dans la cro\u00fbte terrestre, contre 0,06 % de lithium \u00e0 peine). De plus, le sodium se trouve partout sur la plan\u00e8te, notamment dans l&rsquo;eau de mer, sous forme de chlorure de sodium (NaCl) alors que les ressources en lithium sont tr\u00e8s localis\u00e9es dans quelques r\u00e9gions du globe (Argentine, Chili et Bolivie d\u00e9tiennent les deux tiers des ressources mondiales). &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La cr\u00e9ation aujourd&rsquo;hui de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Tiamat, d\u00e9di\u00e9e au d\u00e9veloppement et \u00e0 la production de ces alternatives au lithium-ion, s&rsquo;inscrit dans la continuit\u00e9 de ces travaux. Son objectif cependant n&rsquo;est pas de d\u00e9tr\u00f4ner les batteries lithium-ion, qui \u00e9quipent d\u00e9j\u00e0 la plupart des appareils \u00e9lectroniques mobiles. Tiamat se positionne sur la puissance et la continuit\u00e9 de service gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des batteries endurantes (plus de 10 ans d&rsquo;esp\u00e9rance de vie contre 3-4 ans pour celles au lithium dans des conditions d&rsquo;usage continu), des charges et des recharges 10 fois plus rapides. Ces performances ouvrent des possibilit\u00e9s d&rsquo;utilisation pour des usages aujourd&rsquo;hui peu exploit\u00e9s ou bien d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s avec des technologies peu adapt\u00e9es, comme le stockage stationnaire (stockage de masse des \u00e9nergies renouvelables intermittentes, \u00e9olienne ou solaire) et le stockage mobile pour des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques (les bus rechargeables en fin de ligne par exemple). Tiamat s&rsquo;int\u00e9resse notamment aux flottes de v\u00e9hicules en location, qui requi\u00e8rent des temps de recharge courts et n\u00e9cessitent une continuit\u00e9 de service aux usagers. La technologie sodium-ion permet ainsi d&rsquo;envisager de nouveaux usages du quotidien, tels des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques avec 200 km d&rsquo;autonomie qui se rechargent en quelques minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s une phase d&rsquo;homologation de ces technologies, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Amiens entend y d\u00e9velopper son activit\u00e9. Forte du soutien du RS2E, elle travaille d&rsquo;ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0 en collaboration avec le tissu d&rsquo;acteurs acad\u00e9miques et industriels de ce r\u00e9seau.
