La fusion de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 augment\u00e9e (RA) et du HUD pourrait s’av\u00e9rer transformatrice en fournissant une pl\u00e9thore d’informations et de rep\u00e8res interactifs sous la forme de graphiques et de textes projet\u00e9s \u00e0 de multiples distances focales, cr\u00e9ant l’illusion qu’ils sont une extension naturelle du monde r\u00e9el. Elle serait en mesure d’offrir une navigation de qualit\u00e9 sup\u00e9rieure, des alertes d’\u00e9vitement des dangers, des mises \u00e0 jour de la localisation et des donn\u00e9es cl\u00e9s li\u00e9es aux performances de la voiture, sans compter la gestion des communications et du divertissement.<\/p>\n

Le principal obstacle \u00e0 la combinaison de la RA et du HUD dans sa configuration actuelle r\u00e9side dans la taille requise des optiques conventionnelles. Ainsi, si l’on souhaite augmenter le champ de vision ou la taille de l’image, les dimensions physiques du HUD augmentent de mani\u00e8re exponentielle, ce qui rend l’unit\u00e9 compatible avec la RA trop encombrante pour \u00eatre install\u00e9e derri\u00e8re le tableau de bord. Et c’est l\u00e0 qu’intervient l’optique diffractive de la technologie de guide d’ondes de Nokia. Cette technologie r\u00e9volutionnaire permet d’augmenter consid\u00e9rablement la taille de l’image virtuelle et de la projeter \u00e0 des distances focales infinies ou multiples sans modifier le volume de l’unit\u00e9 elle-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n
